European Bridges Ensemble Residency

Place/Dates:

HFMT : Hamburg – July 11 – 25, 2009

Description:

Summer Residency of the European Bridges Ensemble

Objective:

Four participants were invited to the residency to compose new pieces for the fall 2009 events. Two participants (Daniel Iglesia and Fredrik Olofsson) were selected through a submission process, the other two were students of the Hochschule (Alexander Schubert and Jacob Sello).

Results:

The four participants worked with the ensemble on a daily basis. There were discussion sessions, workshops, presentations and rehearsals. After two weeks, the pieces were presented in their current state and discussed with the ensemble. The technical rehearsals continued on the Internet after the residency leading up to the Klangwerktage Festival concert on November 23, 2009. The residency also included an excursion to Berlin to inspect the WFS (wave field synthesis) sound spatialisation system at the Technical University Berlin.
