Electronic Performance Culture Workshops and Concerts

This was an artistic research project aimed at contriubuting in an innovative way to the performance of electronic music developing new types of instruments to be used in the local network. Under the guidance of Andrea Szigetvári (Budapest) und Johannes Kretz (Vienna) young Hungarian and Austrian composers  developed tools, which allow the interactive performance of electronic sounds through senseful body gestures. The main target was the development of new virtual music instrument, which used an advanced laser sensor system (www.lasertheater.hu), detecting the touching of laser beams.

Objective:

Artistic research, software development, creating, rehearsing and presenting new pieces.

Results:

The pieces created in the framework of the workshops were presented on the 14th of June 2008 in Vienna (Fanny-Hensel-Mendelssohn-Hall of the music university in Vienna) at the occasion of the inauguration of the new “Center for innovative music technology” (ZiMT) and in Budapest on the 21st of June in Kunsthalle during the “night of museums”.

Target group: young composers and performers, contemporary art audience.

• Participants: 14 composers, 4 performers.

• Audience: 1000 persons
