Golem Workshop

In order to rehearse for the Prague public presentation on April 22, a workshop was set up. It covered propositions for new choreographies and sound interpretations. A new collaborator was invited to take part in the workshop. Born in Athens in 1981, Ioannis Mandafounis studied dance in the Paris conservatoire, works with the Gothenburg Opera Ballet, the Nederlands dans theater II, works as a freelance interpret on multiple projects and created the Lemurius company in 2004. He is member of the Forsythe Company since 2005. Ioannis worked together with CIANT & Jurij Konjar, Luka Princic on choreographic parts. The workshop was composed of the motion capture system experiments with focus on networked dance, choreography, and sound.

Objective:

• To render creative opportunity for young artists to work in an experimental way with interactive and networked sound via using motion capture system.

• To allow a dancer to choreograph and co-author the sound composition as well as interactive 3D images.

Results:

A five day long intense creative workshop resulting in the publically presented interactive network performance.

Golem Work-in-progress public presentation.

GOLEM creation is an international co-production performance in the field of technological art with a strong emphasis on “future prototyping and fabrication of life”. It brings together practitioners from areas of visual arts, performing arts, sound art, dance, robotics, computer science, biology, biotechnology, genetics, artificial life, artificial intelligence, and philosophy in order to realize network-oriented interactive performance.

Objective:

To integrate research and tools in order to produce and present a network-oriented interactive performance.

Results:

Interactive dance performance.
