Ambisonics X-Change Workshop

Initiative inclusive Meeting for exchanging ideas on distribution, dissemination, streaming and performing Ambisonics art between different implementations of Ambisonics systems. Therefore leading scientists and Artists in this field has been invited to a meeting discussing on some ideas which has been developed. Additionally some 3D-Audio pieces where performed, testing and proofing the concept, to distribute. The meeting was a start for further work done for COMEDIA and setting up Network.

Objective:

The goal was to find a roughly accepted solution on 3D-Audio dissemination for files and streams based on Ambisonics. Therefore proposals and example implementations has been prepared by IEM Ambisonics Group and tested at the Ambisonics Concert Hall CUBE at IEM. With this meeting an international expert interest group should be formed for further developments and deployments in this field.

Results:

A proposal for a format has been done, which can be used for COMEDIA 3D-Audio Streaming, as also a further cooperation with this specialists has been fixated. There should be a bigger follow-up Event in June next year at IEM. Further software developments will include these ideas to get distributed and better accepted. (see http://ambisonics.iem.at/ ). It has been shown that further development and experiments has to been done until it is easily usable, planning a 3D-Audio streaming event series for next year and implementing technical solution this year.
