Place/Dates: CENTQUATRE, Paris France 11 October 2008

Description:

“They Are Here” Installation

Premier of the LAN installation “They Are Here” by the Italian composer Andrea Cera on the occasion of the opening of the new multi-disciplinary art center in Paris, the CENTQUATRE.

Objective:

Create a LAN artistic project which contains the premises of ideas to be developed in a full WAN project in 2009 and 2010.

Results:

The installation was premiered on the 11th of October and created a relation between the public outside in the main passageway of CENTQUATRE and the installation inside one of the big studios (“atelier 6”). The image of the public and the general ambient sounds were picked up  and sent to the installation inside the “atelier” for processing and restitution to the public inside. In the installation itself, motion capture (via EyesWeb) was used to control the processing while also creating a relation with the spectator through the use of live video used to create links between the spectators as they interacted.

Target group:

general public, artists, musicians, video artists, popular music artists.

Number of participants/visitors/audience :

2000-3000 actual visitors to the installation itself ; in addition the Mayor of Paris (during opening ceremony) along with guests (artists, institutional representatives …) invited for the opening of the center.
